An all-age (4-16) co-educational (boys and girls) maintained (by Hertfordshire Local Authority) Foundation Special Educational Needs School for children with ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder), MLD Moderate Learning Disabilities) and SLCN (Speech and Language Communication Needs). All pupils have an EHCP (Education, Health, Care Plan) and are placed in the school by the Local Authority's SN Team (Special Needs Team)

A CAMHS Tier 4 mental health hospital school for young people aged between 14 and 18. Most students at FHEC are residential patients at Forest House Adolescent Unit (FHAU) though some young people access a day provision, referred by ESMA.
